Who Is A Good Lip Blush Candidate?
The simple answer is, anyone that wants to have a more youthful appearance, with bigger looking, more defined natural lips. That includes, but not limited to, the following:
Busy parents or business people who don’t have much time to apply make up
Active people who don’t want to worry about wearing makeup just to look alert
Any person who has lips that look the same color as their skin, and those who have white spots one their lips.
Lip Filler can be expensive and it doesn't last long for some people. So for many, Lip Blush will result in a similar look that lasts longer which only increases the value of the service.
Who Is NOT A Good Lip Blush Candidate?
When it comes to Lip Blush, it's important to evaluate each candidate on a case by case basis. Keep in mind that you should still reach out if you potentially fall into any of these categories or if you are unsure if you qualify. We can help guide you through the decision and support you.
Brow Envy's goal is to give you the best experience and to make sure we partner with you on your beauty journey.
So let's cover off who would not be the ideal candidate.
Anyone with a history of cold sores MUST get an antiviral prescription from their doctor (such as Valtrex) BEFORE the appointment to prevent an outbreak post procedure. Cold sores are very common but need to be prevented in order to avoid poor healing!
People with dark lips or dark brown spots.
People taking sun sensitizing medications (including but not limited to Retinol/Retin-a/vitamin A) – these need to be stopped at least 2 weeks before the appointment.
People who have had Lip Filler must wait until 4 weeks post injections to have Lip Blush.
People who have used Accutane within last year.
People with a history of keloid scarring.
People with Auto-immune deficiencies may not heal well, please be sure you are as healthy as possible before booking.
Pregnant women.
Nursing women should discuss with their doctor first.
People with conditions that cause them to bleed very easily.
People with prior lip tattoos may not be candidates for Lip Blush. This is determined by consultation before booking
People who have had a lot of Lip Filler - typically more than 1-2
syringes of filler in the lips. This is determined by reviewing your picture.
How Is Lip Blush Done?
A tiny pen-like machine using a tiny acupuncture needle is used to gently insert pixels of pigment into the lips to slowly build a nice natural lip color. This allows us to build the color gradually so we have full control over how bold you want you want your lips to be.
It's a collaborative process!
Immediately after the procedure your lips will be swollen. This typically lasts about one day. They also look more like a pretty lip stick color, and less like lip balm, for a few days. They fade significantly, about 50%, within a week. Healing is extremely easy - typically 4-5 days of tight, chapped lips. You can use Aquaphor often and they look great while they heal!
Aftercare
While it’s critical you follow aftercare procedures perfectly as prescribed by your artist, with Lip Blush it’s highly important you follow these aftercare guidelines as best you can. The longevity of your results depend on it! The big NO-NO's are:
Do not use whitening toothpaste during the healing process.
Do not pick at your scabs.
Below is a day by day of the best practices to take care of your beautiful new lips:
Day 1:
Avoid extremely hot foods and drinks with a straw. Wipe your lips with a moist cotton round every 30 minutes for the next 3 hours and apply aquaphor. Removing this fluid will prevent the formation of thick scabs. After 3 hours wipe your lips every 2 hours until bedtime and apply aquaphor.
Day 2:
Wipe your lips 4-6 times per day and keep them moist with aquaphor.
Day 3:
Wipe your lips every AM and PM and keep them moist with aquaphor. By now lips should be fully exfoliated. Keep them protected from the sun.
Lip Blush Cost You & Is It Worth It
Similar to microblading, Lip Blush is a long-term investment in yourself, your confidence, and your beauty. You have to ask yourself - is it worth investing in how you feel and carry yourself?
We believe strongly that you are something worth investing in.
This is why we invested in the countless hours of certifications and intensive training for multiple artists in both Cincinnati & Columbus to offer this service to you. You deserve it.
Your first appointments is a $600 and includes a free touch-up 6-8 weeks later to make sure everything is perfect. You can work with your artist to ensure everything is how you like it and be sure to ask any questions about your healing and how to maximize your results.
We encourage Brow Envy clients to also consider a maintenance touch ups. This is done every 12-18
months to ensure your results are as bold and vivid as the day you got them. This is a $350 investment done within the 12-18 month from your last appointment.
Lip Blush lasts about 2-3 years on average before it's mostly or completely gone, though it's possible it could last longer or fade more quickly depending on how closely you follow the after-care and how well you protect your investment by taking care of your lips. Most people will get a touch up around once per 12-18 months, depending on desired look!
